A new-build retreat that frames the Atlantic light through lime-plastered volumes and deep, shaded thresholds.
The house is organised as a sequence of rooms that open, in turn, to the pine and the sea. Thick walls hold the cool; wide reveals soften the light. Every opening was studied against the path of the sun.
We worked in a restrained palette of local material — lime, timber and stone — so the building belongs to its place and improves with weather and time.
Architecture, at its best, is the careful arrangement of light.
